NYC Restaurant Week to Feature More Than 320 Restaurants

NYC & Company, New York City’s marketing, tourism and partnership organization, today announced that NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2011—the City’s original culinary celebration and world’s first Restaurant Week—will feature more than 320 restaurants.  The two-week event will take place July 11–24, Mondays through Fridays; Saturdays are excluded and Sundays are optional.  Founding Sponsor American Express and Participating Sponsor Travelocity will return to offer promotions and prizes throughout the program. For the 12th consecutive season, prices for the prix-fixe three-course meals will remain at $24.07 for lunch and $35 for dinner (excluding beverages, taxes and gratuities), ensuring that the City’s largest dining program to date remains as good a value today as it was in 1992.

“Summer 2011 marks the beginning of the 20th year for NYC Restaurant Week—a true milestone in the industry of dining,” said NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta. “This season will kick off a two-part commemoration of the City’s largest culinary program that will conclude with its 20th anniversary. We encourage everyone to partake in this New York City tradition that has influenced events the world over and claimed a part of history.”

New program participants this season include Junoon, Macelleria, Osteria Morini and Socarrat Paella Bar. The program will also welcome back the likes of ‘21’ Club, Barbetta, Delmonico’s, Le Cirque and Tribeca Grill, who were all original participants in 1992. The full list of participating restaurants will be available at nycgo.com/restaurantweek on Wednesday, June 29, when reservations are open to the general public. Early-access reservations will be made available on Twitter to @nycgo followers on Monday, June 27.

“This is a big milestone for NYC Restaurant Week, as we look back on 20 years of dining history,” said Tracy Nieporent, NYC & Company Restaurant Committee Chairman. “The growth of our Restaurant Week over two decades serves as a testament to the strength of New York City’s restaurant industry. A number of participants, including Tribeca Grill, are proud to be have been a part of this culinary celebration from the very start.”
