Austin can add a new “better burger” option to the city’s vast dining landscape. Smashburger, a Denver, CO-based fast-casual concept and the nation’s fastest growing “better burger” restaurant brings its fresh approach to burgers to Austin when it opens its first location on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 9900 S. IH 35, with plans to grow two more locations in the market place.
Smashburger brings its juicy burgers that are smashed fresh, served delicious, along with its Haagen-Dazs ® shakes, tempting sides and regional menu items crafted to please local’s palates to Austin. Each Austin Smashburger features a regional menu created with regional flavors and tastes in mind. The Austin menu includes the regional Texas burger, with mustard, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles on an egg bun; Spicy Baja burger, with pepper jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, spicy shipotle mayo, and fresh jalapenos on a spicy chipotle bun; BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar burger, with bbq sauce, applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and haystack onions in an egg bun; and Avocado Club, with fresh avocado, applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing and mayo on a multi-grain bun.
At Smashburger, the secret is in the smash. It starts with 100-percent—fresh, never frozen, Certified Angus Beef and is smashed on a 400 degree flat grill to sear in the juicy flavor. To further the “better burger” experience, the delicious burgers are served on toasted artisan buns and topped with a selection of the freshest produce, real cheeses, and highest-quality condiments.
The 2059-square-foot Southpark Meadows store boasts a modern, contemporary dining experience that seats up to 50 customers and features an attractive patio, providing seating up to 35—an ideal place to sit back and enjoy a Smashburger accompanied by a selection of craft beer. The new store will also feature Smashburger’s new design features that boast high-tech digital menu boards, exposed steel, ceiling rafters, and localized graphics and art—showcasing a mosaic of photography which spotlights local landmarks.
Currently, Smashburger operates 38 stores in its home state of Texas, with plans to continue to grow the brand in Texas. In late Spring, Smashburger will open a second Austin location at the soon-to-open Mueller development. A third location is slated for the new shopping center at Lakeline and 183. This strong Smashburger presence doesn’t just mean delicious burgers for the Austin market, it also represents millions in annualized revenue and approximately 100 new jobs to the area.
