First Orange County Location For The “Build Your Own” American Dining Concept That Takes Customization to the Extreme
Four years ago, STACKED: Food Well Built opened its first location in Southern California, attracting widespread acclaim for its inventive culinary twists on American classics of burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads and mac ‘n’ cheese, and its groundbreaking innovation of allowing guests to customize every aspect of their dining experience. Today, STACKED announces that it will be opening its first Orange County location in Huntington Beach, Calif., in the fall. Other STACKED locations include Torrance, Cerritos, Thousand Oaks and San Diego.
STACKED was founded in 2011 by the former co-CEO’s of BJ’s Restaurants, Paul Motenko and Jerry Hennessy, who developed that brand into a national chain.

STACKED offers an incredible selection of fresh ingredients and house-made sauces and dressings, encouraging guests to combine their favorite flavors to create their own personal masterpiece. While many guests choose to STACK their own meals from scratch, for those who want a head start on ordering, STACKED offers various signature items in each menu category, which can also be customized. And for Happy Hour or anytime, STACKED offers a full-bar, replete with multiple, flat screen TVs, and stocked with rotating specialty craft beers, premium wine selections, and top shelf liquor for inventive cocktails. For dessert, there’s nothing more sinfully delicious than create-your-own sundaes, ice cream sandwiches and shakes.
Swipe Right, Eat Well
While STACKED’s founders always envisioned a restaurant built around total customization, it was the arrival of the iPad that propelled their vision forward. As a complement to full-service attention by STACKED’s concierge-servers, the proprietary technology behind the tabletop iPads allow guests to customize their meals selecting and swiping the ingredients to visually build their meal on the screen. The ordering process also allows guests to pay for only those ingredients they choose, while letting guests control how and when they order and pay. But, for those guests who prefer a traditional full-service experience, STACKED’s concierge-servers are always glad to take their order for them.
The tremendous variety of ingredient options, all selected for their high-quality and inventive flavor profiles, provide the additional benefit of appealing to many different dietary preferences. “Our menu caters to guests with various dietary restrictions such as gluten-free or vegetarian, without sacrificing flavor and quality,” said Motenko.
Gluten-free guests can choose among more than 159 certified gluten-free ingredients including delicious gluten-free buns for burgers, and artisan, gluten-free pizza crusts. Vegetarians have a wide range of options in all menu categories.
The new STACKED: Food Well Built, to be located at 7490 Edinger Avenue, directly across from the Bella Terra Center, will feature a warm, contemporary interior décor as well as an inviting patio area. Seating around 200 guests, STACKED will be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night.
